The end of a great project Clonmel Rock culminated in a live stream of the bands performances.
The 8 weeks of online band lessons came to an end with a video shoot and socially distanced recording sessions. It was an absolute pleasure to be involved in this project and I hope to do more of it in the future.
People of Rock are Luke Morrison (vocals), Emma Jane Lastra (vocals), Ethan Sacks (keyboards), TJ Keane (lead guitar), Cliodhna Harpur (rhythm guitar), Molly Gubbins (bass guitar) and Ethan Kendrick (drums).
Broken Cogs are Ava Jo O’Connor (vocals) Harry McMahon (keyboards and vocals), Oscar Mor O Conaill (lead guitar), Michael Pollard (rhythm guitar), Deirdre Harpur (bass guitar) and Paudie Ryan (drums).
The participants get weekly tuition in their instrument, as well as group work in common areas such as rhythm. They receive charts for three songs, and a click-track to practice with between sessions. In the final phase, the bands get together and record the tracks for their rock video, accompanied by their tutors.
Aired specially for our own ‘MT Clonmel’, in celebration of the late great Clonmel-born DJ Vincent Hanley!
The Junction Festival team are delighted to work with Music Generation Tipperary on this project and we’re looking forward to giving young musicians the experience of recording music together and showcasing their talent for the public. Who knows? The next U2 or Kodaline might get together right here in Clonmel!
Clonmel Rocks! is run in conjunction with Creative Ireland and Music Generation Tipperary.”
